CITY OF JACKSONVILLE HONORS
ARTIS GILMORE AND RETIRES #53!
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mayor Alvin Brown proclaimed Tuesday, October 8, as Artis Gilmore Day in the City of Jacksonville. Mayor Brown also retired Gilmore's jersey on behalf of the city. What this means is that Gilmore's name and number will be permanently displayed on a banner in the rafters for all events held at the arena. Previously, his name and number were only visible when the JU basketball team played their home games at the arena.
